Four Terriers Score Double Figures in Win.

 

December 4, 2010, Waterville, Maine – The Thomas College Terriers women's basketball hosted Saint Joseph's (NY) this evening where the Terriers came away with their second win of the season, 79-70. The Monks came into the game with a 3-2 record while Thomas was 1-3 this season.

The first half saw a back in forth game that saw many lead changes. The Lady Bears were able to end the half with a three point lead 48-45. The Bears were led by Ashley McQuillan (Syosset, NY) who scored 15 points, shooting a nice 3-5 from behind the 3PT arch. Thomas was by the stellar shooting of Kellie Martel (Cambridge, ME) 13 points and Mallorie Blankey (Fairfield, ME) 12 points.

The second half saw the Terriers jump out to quick start will aggressive play that caused 29 turnovers for the game. As well as key free throw shooting by Blankey and junior Karin Bird (Lee, ME). Thomas had four players finish in double figures in scoring. Ashley Allen (Robbinston, ME) had 10 points off the bench, Bird finished with 17 points with a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line, Martel finished with 15 points, and Blankey finished with a game high 23 points.

The second half for the Bears was led by McQuillan who scored 22 points. Janine Doran recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

The Terriers (1-3, 0-0 NAC) will next host Bates College this Tuesday December 7, 2010 at 7:00 pm.
