BROWNWOOD, TX - Senior point guard Randa Lee hit two free throws with under a second to go in the game to seal a 68-64 victory over Howard Payne University on Saturday afternoon at Brownwood Coliseum.

The Lady Choctaws (8-0, 4-0 ASC) used stifling defense and hot shooting in the second half to pick up the victory.  MC shot 50% (14-28) from the floor while holding the Lady Jackets (2-4, 0-4 ASC) to just 36% (12-33).

Senior Jalessa Taylor led the Choctaws with 19 points, including the go-ahead bucket 10 seconds remaining to give MC a 66-64 lead.  Lee chipped in 12 points, going 2-5 from the three-point line.

Sophomore Traci Rodgers scored 13 points, making 3-4 from behind the arc, while sophomore Elizabeth Brooks scored 10 points.

The Lady Choctaws outrebounded the Lady Jackets, 45-3, including pulling down 18 offensive boards.

Howard Payne was led by Katy Sarem with 26 points on 9-12 shooting from the floor and 3-3 shooting from behind the three-point line.  Brittany Roberson scored 14 points, while Tiffany Warner chipped in 12.

The Lady Choctaws will return home to face Concordia Texas on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. in the Golden Dome.
