MACON, Ga. - LaGrange College rolled past Wesleyan College 100-55 in the GSAC opener for both teams Thursday night at Porter Gym. The Panthers stayed unbeaten at 5-0, while handing the Pioneers (2-1) their first loss.
The Panthers put six players in double figures. Heather Miller led all scorers with 18 points. Stefanie Schuck had 16 points, Alex Wilson 14, Elizabeth Williams, 12, Katie Covington 11 and Caroline Brashier 10.
Covington had a double-double with a game-high 11 rebounds. It was Covington's fourth double-double of the season. Williams missed a double-double by one assist, finishing with nine.
It was the sixth time the Panthers had reached the century mark in a game. The last time was against Salem (109) last season.
The Panthers shot a season-best 45.2 percent from the floor. They made a season-best 10 3-point shots in 31 attempts. The Panthers were 24-of-28 from the free throw line.
The Panthers broke the game open in the first half. Tied at 12, the Panthers ran off 21 straight unanswered points during a six minute span.
The Panthers continued to add to their lead and led 54-21 at halftime. Miller and Wilson each 11 points in the half.
Wesleyan was led by Ciara Walker's 15 points. Bre'Ana Solmone added nine points and rebounds each.
The Panthers host Salem in a GSAC game Sunday at 2 p.m.
