ALPINE, TX - The Mississippi College women's basketball opened the season with their seventh consecutive win with a 87-61 victory over Sul Ross State University on Thursday night in the Pete P. Gallego Center.

The Lady Choctaws (7-0, 3-0 ASC) scored the first 13 points of the game and extended the lead throughout.  MC's biggest lead came with 7:50 remaining in the first half when they led by 27 points.

Sophomore Caitlin Brown led the Choctaws with 13 points on 6-10 shooting from the floor.  Junior Karli Kenley poured in 12 points while senior Jalessa Taylor and sophomore Traci Rodgers each added 10 points.

The Lady Lobos were led by Candace Pollard with 17 points, while Stephanie Portillo and Misha Henderson each scored 11.

The Lady Choctaws shot 70% (21-30) in the first half, and extended their league-leading field goal percentage mark of 56%.

The Lady Choctaws will travel to Brownwood, TX to face Howard Payne at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
