YORK, Pa. - Wesley College's Angie Owens (Seaford, Del./Seaford) posted 24 points, 14 rebounds, two blocks and five steals, but it was not enough as York (Pa.) defeated the Wolverines 61-54.
The senior hit 10-of-14 field goals in the game, but the Spartans (4-2, 1-0 CAC) used an 18-4 run near the end of the first half to erase a Wesley (1-3, 0-1 CAC) lead and carried a 35-23 lead into the half.
The Wolverines pulled to within two in the second half on a jumper by Jazmine Miller (Dover, Del./Dover) with 10:22 remaining made it 43-41. Wesley got to within three with 6:38 left on a Brittany Howes (Freehold, N.J./Colts Neck) jumper that made it 48-45.
York, however, went on an 11-2 run to put the game out of read over the next four and a half minutes.
Miller added 16 points for Wesley and also grabbed five rebounds. Cory Boyd (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant) chipped in with 10 points and added seven assists. That brought the seniors career assist total to 499.
