Staten Island, NY: Junior Lindsey Gripenburg scored a career high 20 points while senior Brittany Hoffman posted a double-double with ten points and ten assists as the Ramapo College women's basketball team defeated the College of Staten Island on the road, 64-55.
The Roadrunners improve to 4-0 on the season while the Dolphins fall to 0-3.
Ramapo jumped out to a 4-0 lead on back to back baskets by sophomore Faith Flannery and Gripenburg with 17:46 to go in the half. The Roadrunners went on an 11-0 run capped off by a made foul shot by rookie Alayna Donadio before Gripenburg sunk the backend of a two-shot foul to take their biggest lead of the first half (32-14) with just 48 seconds remaining.
The Roadrunners jumped out to a 20 point lead with a bucket to open the second half by Gripenburg as she was assisted by Hoffman before the Dolphins shrunk the lead to nine with 42 seconds left in the game. Gripenburg made both foul shots with 31 seconds remaining to take an 11 point lead before a layup and three-point bucket were good for the Dolphins to cut the lead to seven. Sophomore Alexa Ryan capitalized on both her foul shots to bring the lead back to nine for Ramapo with nine second remaining to preserve the victory.
Rampao shot 32% from the field (20-61) while they shot a combined 51% from the foul line (20-39) in the game. Ryan chipped in 12 points, two assists and six rebounds while Flannery added nine points, two steals and one block. Senior Tiffany Osorio grabbed a team high seven rebounds while posting three points and one steal.
The Roadrunners return to action on Monday, November 29th when they host non-conference foe Manhattanville College at 6:00 PM.
