CLINTON, MS - Senior forward Jalessa Taylor scored 16 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in a 70-45 win over Schreiner University on Monday night at A.E. Wood Coliseum.  The Lady Choctaws had four players score in double-figures in their sixth straight victory to open the season.

Schreiner cut the MC lead to only four points with 7:17 remaining in the first half before the Lady Choctaws went on a 20-4 run to take a 38-18 lead heading into the intermission.

Taylor also led the Lady Choctaws with four assists and five steals in the game.  Senior Randa Lee had her highest scoring game of the year with 15 points, shooting 3-5 from the three-point line.  Sophomores Elizabeth Brooks and Valeri Stewart also finished in double-figures with 14 and 10 points, respectively.

Kristy Guerra led the Mountaineers with 12 points on 5-7 shooting.  Schreiner only shot 30% from the floor in the second half as MC extended their lead.

The Lady Choctaws outrebounded the Mountaineers, 33-24, and forced 25 turnovers on their way to the win.

MC will hit the road for the first time this season to face Sul Ross State on Thursday night at 5:30 p.m. in Alpine, TX.
