LA CROSSE, Wis. -- The University of Chicago shot 57% from the field and 53% from three-point range en route to an 85-55 victory over Luther College in non-conference women's basketball action Saturday night at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
Taylor Simpson led four Maroons in double figures with 18 points, while Morgan Herrick, Bryanne Halfhill, and sophomore Jenna Lillemoe each added 12 points.
Sparked by an early 10-0 run, the Maroons -- who never trailed in the contest -- built a 42-23 lead at the break.
Luther (1-4) cut the gap to 52-40 on a Sam McCamy layup with 12:33 left in the game, but Chicago then scored the game's next 18 points to put the game out of reach.
Chicago (3-1) connected on 33 of 58 attempts from the field (56.9%) and was successful on 10 of 19 three-point tries (52.6%). The Maroons also hit nine of 12 attempts from the foul line, good for a .750 clip.
Dana Kaplan came off the bench to sink three of four shots from behind the arc. Joann Torres was perfect on two attempts, while Lillemoe hit two of four. Kaplan also handed out four assists without a turnover in 21 minutes.
Luther's Sam Jewell led all scorers with 26 points.
Chicago will face Wisconsin-La Crosse Sunday at 3 p.m. The Eagles entered Saturday's game against Northwestern College sporting a 4-0 record with an average victory margin of nearly 40 points.
