BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Junior Jenny Logan (Luray, Va./Luray) led three scorers in double figures with a game-high 23 points as the Bridgewater Eagles women's basketball team took down the Lynchburg Hornets 88-70 in the ODAC opener for both teams.

At the onset of the contest, both teams traded scores, with the game being knotted up on six different occasions.

With 13:34 to play in the first half, a Katelynn Hottinger (Linville, Va./Broadway) layup jump started a 6-0 Bridgewater run to give the Eagles a slight cushion at a 21-15 tally with just under 11 to play in the opening frame.

Over the next eight plus minutes, the Eagles used a 22-8 run to establish a then game-high 20 point advantage over the Hornets at a 43-23 tally with 3:16 to play in the first half.

Lynchburg ended the stanza on an 11-5 run to bring the Eagles lead to a 48-34 halftime advantage.

In the opening frame, points off turnovers were the difference with the Eagles owning a 21-9 advantage in the category.

Lynchburg chipped the lead down to single digits as three turnovers in the first five minutes of the second half spelled doom for Bridgewater, with the Eagles clinging to a 56-48 advantage with 15:07 to play in the game.

In a game of spurts, the Eagles used a 19-3 run, which included nine points from senior guard Jordan Burkholder (Bridgewater, Va./Turner Ashby) to build a 24 point advantage at a 75-51 margin with nine minutes to play in the game.

Bridgewater went to their bench in the latter portion of the game before a Hornets press forced numerous Eagles turnovers and drew the game to within 16 late, but it was too little, too late as Bridgewater notched an 88-70 victory over visiting Lynchburg.

On the offensive end, Logan was exceptional knocking down 9-of-12 shots to post a game-high 23 points. Logan also dished out three assists in the win, to go along with six boards. Burkholder pitched in 17 and recorded a game-high six assists, while sophomore Jessica Mullen (Purcellville, Va./Loudon Valley) threw in an additional 11 for the Bridgewater offense.

Senior Bianca Booker (Blackstone, Va./Nottoway) led the way on the glass with seven rebounds as the Eagles out-rebounded the Hornets by a 37-to-27 tally.

Lynchburg was led by a 14-point effort from Caitlin Falls. Courtney Brewer and Carly Greenlief also chipped in 11 each for the Hornets offense.

The Eagles outshot the Hornets by a slim 52%-to-49% tally in the game, but it was points off turnovers that were the difference as the Eagles owned a 37-21 edge in the category as the Eagles forced 28 Lynchburg miscues.

Bridgewater is back in action after the Thanksgiving break when the Eagles travel to Eastern Mennonite on Wednesday, November 27. Action from EMU's Yoder Arena is slated for a 7:00 p.m. tip-time.
