CHICAGO, IL - The women's basketball team was upended 83-54 by Grace Bible College Saturday afternoon during the final day of the Moody Bible Tip-Off Tournament.
The Tigers had their way on the offensive end throughout the 40-minute affair, knocking down nearly 57 percent of their attempts from the floor for the game. The Crimson Eagles, meanwhile, shot just 31 percent, including an 0 for 14 mark from long range.
"We didn't play very good defense and we were a little bit out of sync on offense," head coach Drew Watson reflected following the loss. "It was somewhat of a frustrating day for us."
Grace rolled out a a 45-31 lead during the opening stanza and continued the barrage into the back end of play, outscoring PBU 38-23 during the final 20 minutes.
"Part of it was it was our third game in three days and, you know, with only eight players on our roster, that makes it especially tough – we looked a little tired. But we were just outplayed today, we'll get back at it, learn from it, and hopefully improve."
Three players scored in double figures for the Crimson Eagles, paced by Careth Herron's 12 points and 6 rebounds. Sophomore forward Hannah McCardle chipped in 10 points in just 22 minutes and point guard Sara Poole added 10 points, 4 boards, 3 assists and 3 steals.
The basketball team drops to 1-2 following Saturday's loss.
PBU will look to bounce back one week from today during a match-up with Polytechnic University next weekend. Game time is set for 2:00 pm in Brooklyn.
