LEXINGTON, Va. -- With 994 career points entering Saturday's game, senior Jessica Moore wasted no time in eclipsing the 1,000 point plateau. Moore scored seven of the first nine points for CNU to reach the mark, and was one of three Captains in double figures as CNU (2-0) earned a come-from-behind win on the road against Washington & Lee (1-1), 81-76.

Moore becomes just the 16th player in CNU women's basketball history to reach 1,000 points for her career.

The Generals jumped out to an early lead, and held it throughout the first half. Washington & Lee entered the break up four, after leading by as many as six in the first stanza. Senior Chelsie Schweers knocked down a jumper with 37 seconds left in the first half to pull CNU back with four, 29-25. It was the only bucket for the three-time All-American in the first half, held to just four points.

Washington & Lee was paced by Kari Pfannenstein in the first half, with 13 points and five rebounds, while Katy Wilson added 10 points and five boards.

CNU came out firing in the second half, though, and quickly flipped the deficit into an advantage, led by Schweers. Despite her first half struggles, the senior guard more than made up for it in the second 20 minutes, scoring 29 points on 8-of-13 shooting. She added nine free-throws in the second half and four three-pointers.

Schweers went on a 10-0 run of her own a 2:25 span to give the Captains a 44-40 lead. CNU would never relinquish the lead again, as the Captains shot a tremendous 62.1% in the second half. The lead would grow to as many as 13 on a three-point play by Moore with 2:52 remaining.

The game would be decided at the free-throw line down the stretch, as the Generals cut the lead back to three with six seconds remaining, but Schweers and Kimmy Hopkins went a combined 3-for-4 in the final moments to help seal the win.

Schweers finished with 33 points while Moore added 14 and Nicole Mitchell 13. Four different Generals were in double figures, led by Meg Ingram with 22 points.

CNU will return to action next Saturday, November 27 in the Freeman Center at 3:00 pm, as they play host to Messiah College.
