MADISON, N.J. (November 15, 2010) - First-year Head Coach Brittany Gaetano picked up her first career win as the Rangers defeated City Tech 70-42 in Drew's home opener at Baldwin Gym. Sophomore Dana Coronato (Toms River, N.J./Toms River East) lead the way with a career-high 24 points.

City Tech (0-1) kept the game close in the opening minutes and actually held a lead with 14:15 remaining in the first half. The lead would be short-lived as the Rangers went on 10-0 run over the next 4:27 to help build a nine point lead midway through the first.

The Drew (1-0) defense would lock down the Yellow Jackets offense creating 13 Yellow Jacket turnovers in the first frame alone. Coronato was lights out in the first period of play netting 15 of her 24 points in the first 20 minutes of action. She hit three of four three-pointers in the first and went 6-of-11 from the floor.

The Rangers would go into the locker room with a comfortable 38-16 lead. To open up the second half, the Rangers would score the six of the first eight points giving them a 26-point advantage at the 16:57 mark. Drew's largest lead of the night came after a Kathryn Kozma (New York, N.Y./The Beacon School) layup midway through the second half giving them a 31-point lead.

Junior Danielle Barber (Cape May Court House, N.J./Middle Twp.) had seven points to go along with seven assists and four rebounds. Senior Jess Reid (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds and was a perfect 2-for-2 from the floor and 2-for-2 from the free throw line.

The Rangers have now won their last 15 season openers dating back to the 1996-97 season.

Drew will turn around and play Centenary College tomorrow at 8:00. The game will be played at FDU-Florham.
