DUDLEY, Mass. (2/19/2025) – All five starters for the Nichols College men's basketball team scored in double-figures on Wednesday, leading the Bison to an 81-69 senior night win over Wentworth Institute of Technology in conference play at the Nichols Athletic Center.
With the win, the Bison improve to 13-11 (10-7 CNE) overall. Wentworth drops to 9-15 (8-9 CNE) with the loss.
Olivier St. Louis stood out with his third double-double performance of the season, scoring a career-high 21 points on 5-of-7 (71.4%) shooting, alongside 11 rebounds. Ryan Savoy, the program's lone senior, and Javen Flowers-Smith each scored 16 points in the effort, with Savoy adding in four blocks. Simon Percy notched 14 points and eight rebounds, while Jason Peters scored 11 points with five rebounds, and three steals. As a team, Nichols shot 28-of-58 (48.3%) from the field, including three makes from behind the arc.
The Bison rained down from three early on, with Flowers-Smith, St. Louis and Peters each nailing shots from three-point range to give Nichols a dominant 20-4 lead through the first five minutes of play. Nichols would keep up their double-digit advantage throughout the majority of the half, but Wentworth would slowly close the gap before staging a 13-2 to pull to within one of the hosts, 33-32 with 2:30 to play. Neither side would score a field goal in that remaining time, as St. Louis converted on two free throws to send the Bison to the locker room leading 35-32.
The Bison capitalized on efficient shooting in the second half, going 15-of-25 (60.0%) from the field and a blistering 57.14 percent from beyond the arc. The turning point came after a stretch of point-for-point play to open the half, when Nichols stormed away with a 17-0 run, which was ignited by a Simon Percy dunk and closed with a St. Louis three. Now trailing Nichols 64-43, Wentworth regrouped and slowly chipped away at the difference, but ultimately came up short in bringing it back under 10 points as Nichols held on for the eventual 81-69 victory.
The Bison wrap up their regular season with a road matchup at Suffolk University on Saturday, February 22nd. Official game start is set for 3:00 PM at Smith Court.
