REDLANDS, Calif. – Cal Lutheran's eight-game winning streak was snapped, losing on the road to Redlands 65-77 on Saturday night.

The loss marks the Kingsmen's first in 35 days and ties their biggest loss of the season. It also dropped them out of first place in the SCIAC.

It was a game of catch-up from the beginning for Cal Lu, who fell behind early and struggled to counter the on-ball pressure from the Bulldogs.

The tight pressure meant the Kingsmen often weren't shooting until the shot clock read single digits, allowing little time for potential second chance points, of which the Kingsmen had just seven.

Cal Lutheran committed 11 steals and 15 turnovers in the first half, including four steals in the first six minutes of the game. This resulted in 21 points-off-turnovers for Redlands as opposed to just six for the Kingsmen.

Coming into the contest, the Kingsmen were shooting a SCIAC best 40.3% from behind the three-point arc this season, but were held to just 26% (5-19) in this one, including 1-10 in the first half.

Reigning SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Year Desi Burrage had a career day on offense, tallying a new season-high 18 points, which is also good for the second-highest total of his collegiate career.

Head Coach Russell White tabbed the game as one the Kingsmen can learn from as they close out the regular season in the coming weeks.

"Tonight was a great learning opportunity for us. I hope we get the chance to implement the lessons learned," White said.
