Johansson Leads Johns Hopkins to 90-67 Win at Muhlenberg

ALLENTOWN, PA – Brian Johansson scored a season-high 22 points, in just 23 minutes, to lead Johns Hopkins to a 90-67 win at Muhlenberg Saturday afternoon. The Blue Jays run their win streak to five as they improve to 10-6 overall and 5-0 in the Centennial Conference. The Mules fall to 7-10 on the season, including 0-5 in the conference.
 
Tied at five early in the first half, Johansson drained a three-pointer to spark an 11-2 run, that spanned just three minutes. Johansson scored six of the 11 points as the Blue Jays went 4-of-4 from the field and took a 16-7 lead. Wyatt Eglinton Manner capped the run with a three-point play at the 13:17-mark.
 
Muhlenberg cut the deficit to five with four unanswered points, but Hopkins answered with a 12-2 run to push its lead to 28-13 with 5:52 to play in the half. The Jays did much of their damage during that run from the line, going 8-of-9. The teams went back-and-forth for the remainder of the half and Hopkins led 45-28 at the break.
 
The Mules opened the half with a 5-2 spurt to pull back within 14 just 54 seconds in. That's as close as they could get as the Blue Jays used a methodical 13-5 run, that ate up nearly six minutes off the clock, to push their lead to 60-38. It was a back-and-forth affair for the final 13 minutes as Hopkins' lead never dipped below 19.
 
Johansson led the Blue Jays with 22 points, going 6-of-9 from the field and 7-of-7 from the line. John Windley also finished in double figures, scoring 12 points and grabbing four rebounds. Eglinton Manner added nine points, two assists and two steals and Luke Thorburn had a team-high five rebounds. Giovanni Rubino scored a game-high 26 points and handed out five assists to pace the Mules. Elias Sherman-Murphy finished with 12 points and four rebounds while Peter Stanton-Shepherd scored 11.
 
Hopkins returns to action on Monday, January 27 as the Blue Jays host the Mary Washington Eagles. The non-conference contest is scheduled for a 7:00 pm tip-off at Goldfarb Gym.
