CHICAGO, Ill. (WLCSports.com) - Sixth-ranked Wisconsin Lutheran College suffered its first loss of the season on Saturday, falling 63-62 at the buzzer to Illinois Institute of Technology in a back-and-forth Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference contest at Keating Sports Center.

The Warriors (7-1, 3-1 NACC), who were held to a season-low 29.8 percent shooting, played through 20 lead changes and 15 ties with the Scarlet Hawks.

WLC, which trailed 6-0 just two-and-half minutes into the game, used a 10-0 scoring run to erase a two-point deficit and take its largest lead of the game at 24-16 with four minutes remaining in the first half. IIT closed the opening half with an 11-2 run of its own, as Wisconsin Lutheran trailed 27-25 at halftime following an opening 20 minutes in which it shot just 21.9 percent from the field.

The Warriors faced a pair of five-point deficits within the first 12 minutes of the second half, but both were quickly erased in a half that showcased 14 lead changes and 11 ties. Neither team held more than a three-point lead over the final eight minutes of the contest. Trailing 61-59, graduate Grayson Goetz (Aurora, Ill.) converted a three-point play to put WLC in front by one with just 0:10 seconds left. Illinois Tech had the final answer, however, as Dario Biaggi finished off a sideline inbound play with a game-winning layup as time expired to dash Wisconsin Lutheran's hopes of remaining unbeaten.

The Warriors struggled offensively, shooting a season-low 29.8 percent (17-for-57) from the field, 21.7 percent (5-for-23) from beyond the arc, and 67.6 percent (23-for-34) from the free throw line. WLC capitalized on second chance opportunities, scoring 12 points off 14 offensive rebounds. Graduate Jacob Stoltz (Kewaskum, Wis.) led Wisconsin Lutheran with 14 points and four assists, Goetz finished with 13 points and eight rebounds, while junior Ja'Quell Chisom (Milwaukee, Wis.) added 11 points and six rebounds.

Garrison Carter posted a double-double of 24 points and 10 rebounds for the Scarlet Hawks (3-6, 2-2 NACC), who shot 40.8 percent (20-for-49) from the floor.

The Warriors travel to San Antonio, Texas next week for two games at the Trinity Classic. WLC will first face Southwestern (0-6) on Friday at 2 p.m. Live coverage links can be found at WLCSports.com.
