GORMAN NETS CAREER HIGH 38 POINTS IN WIN OVER MONTCLAIR STATE

Montclair, NJ:  The Ramapo College men's basketball team earned an 82-76 NJAC road win over Montclair State University tonight. The Roadrunners improve to 6-3 overall and 2-2 in the NJAC while the Red Hawks fall to 5-3 overall and 2-2 in the conference.

The Roadrunners were led by Peter Gorman who tallied a career high 38 points including 26 in the first half. Gorman finished 13-18 from the field, 9-10 from the free throw line and connected on three three-pointers including one to seal the victory with 20 seconds on the clock. Gorman added six steals and four rebounds. Shane Rooney tallied 13 points and nine rebounds along with two blocks while he converted on a pair of crucial free throws in the final minutes of the game. Tim Linton contributed with ten points and three rebounds off the bench for the Roadrunners while Jordan Myers added nine points and six rebounds.

Ramapo took a 48-42 lead into the locker room at halftime. The Roadrunners extended their lead in the second half to 12 (62-50) as Rooney converted an and-one play with 15:11 on the clock. An 11-0 run by the Red Hawks shrunk the Ramapo lead to just one (62-61) as Ahmad Robertson capped it off with a jumper with just over 11:30 to play. A mini 6-2 run by the Roadrunners extended their lead to 68-63 before a three-pointer from Christian Cevis cut the lead back to two with just over eight to play. A jumper from Rooney and three free throws from Gorman gave Ramapo a 72-66 lead with 6:14 left to play. A 6-0 from the Red Hawks shrunk the lead to just one with 4:36 left to play, 73-72. Rooney then sank two pair of free throws, the second coming with under two minutes on the clock, 77-72. Ramapo added five points to their final tally including a huge three-pointer from Gorman. The Roadrunners shot 58% (29-50) from the field, 41% (5-12) from the three-point line and 73% (19-26) from the free throw line. The team also scored 20 points off of 15 MSU turnovers.

Mike Jackson led the Red Hawks with 22 points while adding a team high seven rebounds. Cevis and Jacob Morales each added 13 points while Cevis contributed with a team high five assists, three steals and four rebounds. Montclair State shot 43% (31-72) from the field, 25% (10-39) from the three-point line and 50% (4-8).

 Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, Dec. 14th when they host the College of New Jersey in a NJAC game at 1pm.
