CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The Salisbury University men's basketball team used a late offensive outburst to earn a third consecutive victory on Wednesday evening, handling the Washington (Md.) Shoremen to the tune of a 74-45 final score in Chestertown.

Both baskets had plenty of room to spare in the opening minutes, with the two teams combining to make eight of their nine tries to play to a 9-9 tie through four minutes. Jordan Oates led the charge for the Sea Gulls (6-2), marking seven of the first nine tallies.

The Shoremen (4-5) benefitted from a foul beyond the arc, converting three free throws before a true three-pointer gave the hosts a 15-9 advantage. Oates would sandwich a Washington layup with a pair of baskets, tightening the contest to four at 17-13.

Reed Rebstock matched the Shoremen production across the next three minutes, 4-4, and a near-two-minute scoring drought followed. The hosts ended the dry spell with a layup, but the Sea Gulls thumped Washington with an 11-1 run across the final six minutes of the period to hold a 28-24 advantage at the break.

The Sea Gulls blitzed Washington in the opening six minutes of the second stanza, ballooning the total run to 26-7 across nearly 15 minutes with nine points from former Shoreman Kedrick Frink and eight tallies from Oates. When the dust settled, SU found itself up by 15 with just under 13 minutes left, 43-28.

The Eastern Shore foes split the next 16 points evenly, with Brendan Davis and Tyler Ball joining Rebstock to provide the scoring, 51-36. Salisbury went on to control the final seven minutes and change with eight different Sea Gulls scoring in a 23-9 run to finish the contest, 74-45.
