WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference guard Ray Ellington (Westlake) has been named the OAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the second time in his career.
Ellington receives the accolade after his 30-point performance in BW's 88-75 road victory at Penn State Behrend, setting a team season-high and showing a dominant display of scoring and shooting efficiency. He drilled eight three-pointers and finished with 10 field goals overall, both of which were also team season-highs. Ellington's ability to score both off the catch and off the bounce, combined with his quick release and deep range, kept the Behrend defense off balance. In addition to his scoring, Ellington grabbed eight rebounds, demonstrating his active positioning and defensive awareness. His offensive and rebounding contributions were crucial in securing the win for the Yellow Jackets.
This season, Ellington has appeared and started in six games playing 212 minutes. He is third in the OAC with 107 points and 17.8 points per game. He is also fifth in the OAC with 46 rebounds and third in rebounds per game with 7.7. He has also dished out six assists and made two blocks.
In his career, Ellington has appeared in 42 games and has made 28 starts. He has tallied 588 points, 232 rebounds, 41 assists, 18 steals, and 20 blocked shots.
The Yellow Jackets return to the hardwood on Saturday, Dec. 7 as they host Otterbein University in an OAC matchup. The game is set to begin at 3 p.m. in the Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center.
