Men's Basketball Defeats LaGrange 82-69 in Peach State Opener

LaGrange, GA - The N.C. Wesleyan men's basketball team opened its two-game swing through Georgia with a commanding 82-69 victory over LaGrange on Sunday. Prior to the game, the Bishops enjoyed a tour of Atlanta, visiting the birthplace of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and taking in the sights of one of the south's largest cities.

On the court, the Bishops were led by center Ky'ron Kelly, who was dominant in just 25 minutes of play. Kelly posted a double-double with eighteen points and fifteen rebounds, shooting an efficient 9-13 from the floor. Guard Marquis Eskew also had a standout performance, leading the team in scoring with 21 points and four rebounds. Eskew was perfect from the free-throw line, going 8-10, and made six field goals in the win.

Wesleyan's dominance in the paint was evident throughout the game, as NCWU out-rebounded LaGrange 50-32 and held the Panthers to just 16% from behind the arc (4-25). Forwards Markquan Gilbert and James Jones also contributed significantly, with Gilbert adding fifteen points and six rebounds, while Jones chipped in with twelve points of his own.

The Bishops' depth was on full display, as the bench scored 36 points, and the team registered a staggering 54 points in the paint, further asserting dominance inside.
