Berry Pulls Off the Road Win at Covenant

More news about: Berry

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - The Vikings hit the road to take on the Scots of Covenant College to defeat them before the holiday, 96-80.

Parker Godwin showed out tonight! He put up 27-points, a new career-high with EIGHT threes', four of which came in the second half. Godwin did all of this in 23 minutes of play!

Braxton Benham also put up impressive numbers helping Godwin with contributing 20-points to the win.

Knowing they would have to adjust to the crazy system that requires a fast-paced team that Covenant runs, the Vikings hit the road to do just that.

Starting the game, Berry went up early 10-5 with back-to-back threes by leading scorers Benham and Godwin, followed by the first career points from Nile King.

The Vikings lost the lead halfway through the first after not scoring for over three minutes in the stint. The final 10 minutes before the half was back and forth until the final seven minutes with a late three by the home team to give them the one point advantage heading into the second half (40-39).

The second half was all Berry as Godwin started it off with consecutive triples followed by another form Isaac Martin, Godwin would have four threes in the half.

Following the rain from the two snipers, King and Benham shifted the momentum with huge dunks. The Vikings built from there and Covenant was nowhere to be found. Khamani Paxton made an entrance tallying his first points as a Viking.

For the game, Berry had 22 assists on 32 made field goals, showing their ability to share the ball with Isaac Martin contributing seven assists to a new career high in the category.

After the holiday, the Vikings will return home to the Cage for a game against Pfeiffer on December 6.
