Crown Men's Basketball Defeats UW-River Falls for the First Time in Program History

River Falls, WI - The Polars men's basketball team hit the road on Saturday and defeated UW-River Falls 65-56.

The first half was a battle as there were five lead changes in the first 10 minutes of the half. Back to back baskets from the senior Tyrus Buckner and buckets from the Parker Behne and Carter Behne saw Crown trail by one point with 5:39 left to play in the first half. Crown finished out the half on a 5-0 run and kept the score even at 28-28.

After a low scoring and defensive first half the second showed much of the same. With 13:39 left to play in the game the Falcons had their largest lead. Seven straight points from the transfer John Grigsby propelled Crown out in front. After for more lead changes the Polars stretched their lead to 6 points with 2:35 to play. Down the final stretch Crown went 7-8 from the free throw line and closed out the contest winning by nine points.

Tyrus Buckner totaled 21 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Grigsby tallied 12 points and 9 rebounds. Parker Behne totaled 11 points going 6-6 from the charity stripe. This win marks the first ever program win over UW-River Falls, a WIAC contender.

Crown moves to 2-1 on the season and will next head on the road to take on Hamline on Wednesday, November 20th at 7:30pm.
