Team Records Aplenty as Tornados Soar Past Owls, 104-56

BREVARD, N.C. - Scoring 100-plus points for the second-straight game, the Brevard College men's basketball team (2-1) blew out Warren Wilson College (0-4), 104-56 on Saturday afternoon at the Boshamer Gymnasium.

The 104 points Brevard scored matched the DIII-era single-game record set in a 104-98 double-overtime win on December 11, 2021 vs. Berea at home. Saturday's total is tied for the third-most overall in the NCAA era, and is the second-most points scored in regulation behind a 109-point performance on December 8, 2012 at Lees-McRae. Brevard's 40 field goals made on Saturday set a new NCAA record-era single-game record. BC's 26 assists on Saturday are the third-most in the NCAA era, and the second-most this season, falling one short of Thursday's 27-assists output vs. Bob Jones.

Additionally, after Thursday's 35-point win over BJU became BC's largest margin of victory in the NCAA era (supplanting a 30-point win at Warren Wilson on December 1, 2008), BC quickly surpassed that effort as Saturday's 48-point margin is the largest of Brevard's NCAA history.

Senior guard KK Horton led four double-digit Tornado scorers with 15 points on an efficient 5-of-7 from the field with two made 3-pointers. Charlie Hester added 13 points with a perfect 3-for-3 mark from beyond the arc. Freshmen duo of Justen Goudelock (11 points) and Twain Wilson (10 points) logged double figures off the bench, with Jadon CarnesBrock McKnight, and Brennan Wansley adding nine points apiece to Brevard's dominant offensive output.

Wansley snagged a team-best five boards, while Hester dished three assists out. Hester, Horton, Charles Reed, and Zane Caudle all recorded two steals apiece, and Tyler Baldwin scored his first collegiate points.

Fifteen total Tornados got into the scoring column, while Brevard's defense forced 23 Warren Wilson turnovers. Brevard knocked in double-digit 3-pointers for the third time in the young season, draining 12 long-distance buckets on Saturday. Through three games this season, the Tornados have shot 57% from the field, 47% from long range, and are averaging 99 points-per-game.

Warren Wilson's Slim Hines led the Owls with nine points and four rebounds, while Peyton Gonzales distributed a team-best four assists.

The Tornados opened up a sizeable advantage out of the gate, scoring 45 first-half points to open a 24-point halftime lead up. Brevard went 17-for-31 (55%) from the field with a 7-for-13 (54%) mark from long range, but improved on those numbers with their 58-point second half performance. Brevard was out of its mind from the field, shooting at a 70% clip with 23-of-33 attempts finding the bottom of the net. BC went 5-for-8 from long distance in the second stanza.

BC scored 54 of its 104 points inside the paint, totaled 32 fast break points, turned 23 WWC turnovers into 34 points, and received 54 points off its bench while leading wire-to-wire.

Brevard and Warren Wilson will match back up in Swannanoa next Thursday, November 21 at 7 p.m. as non-conference play rolls on for the Tornados.
