The Short story: Jackson Bell and Joshua McClary each scored 20 points Sunday to lead the Roanoke College men's basketball team to an 83-68 win over SUNY-Geneseo at the Winchester Sports Medicine Team Tipoff Classic, hosted by Shenandoah University.
How it happened:
*Roanoke jumped out early on the Knights, forging a 37-11 lead with 7:34 left in the first half, which included a 10-0 spurt to finish the run.
*The Maroons led 47-34 at halftime and held a double-digit advantage for much of the second half.
Inside the numbers:
*Sophomore Jackson Bell was nearly perfect from the floor, shooting 7-8 overall, including 4-5 from three-point range and 2-2 from the free throw stripe. He finished with 20 points and two blocked shots.
*Joshua McClary also scored 20 points and had game-highs of five assists and three steals.
*Marcus Morgan had a double double with 11 points and a game-best 10 rebounds.
*Porter Stanley compiled 10 points and five rebounds in just 13 minutes and Patrick Clevenger tallied eight points and eight rebounds.
*Sebastian Pacheco led SUNY-Geneseo (1-0) with 15 points and six rebounds.
*Roanoke outrebounded the Knights 41-26.
