MBB: Bosse ends career with double-double, Panthers fall in season finale

 

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. The Plymouth State University men's basketball team fell to the Eastern Connecticut State University Warriors, 73-57, in its final game of the 2023-24 season Saturday afternoon.

Senior Kyler Bosse (Manchester, N.H.) played his final minutes in a Panther uniform, and in true fashion, put on a show – recording a game high 29 points while bringing down 10 rebounds, as Plymouth State was stymied at Francis E. Geissler Gymnasium.

Play remained tight for most of the contest, but the Panthers' shooting went cold late as the Warriors pulled away.

Plymouth State ends the year at 8-17 (4-12 LEC), with seven of the losses coming by fewer than six points. Eastern Connecticut ends its campaign with a record of 6-19 (3-13 LEC).

How it Happened:

  • The teams started neck-and-neck with an 8-8 scoreline at the 15:27 mark in the opening half.
  • Play remained knotted at 17-a-piece as back-and-forth action found an even scoreline with 8:10 to go until halftime.
  • Plymouth State recorded the final four points of the first half to take a narrow 30-27 lead at the break.
  • The Warriors found their stride, riding a 13-4 run into a 40-34 advantage to start the second half with 16:21 left in regulation.
  • Plymouth State tied things back up at 40-40 with 14:26 on the clock in the second half.
  • ECSU responded, scoring nine-straight points to go up 49-40 midway through the second.
  • The Panthers got to within four (53-49) with 8:06 to play but would get no closer as the Warriors pulled away with the final conference win of the season.
