William Paterson Men's Basketball Drops Season Finale to Ramapo

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson men's basketball team (6-19, 1-17 NJAC) was defeated 77-72 by Ramapo (17-8, 11-7 NJAC) in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Feb. 14 at the Sports and Recreation Center.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Pioneers held a slim 11-9 lead with 14:49 on the clock in the first half before the Roadrunners went on a 21-8 run that spanned 6:54 of action to gab an 11-point advantage (30-19).
  • Ramapo maintained its double-digit lead until the 7:12 mark of the second half when a 3-pointer by senior Patrick Monahan capped an 18-6 run and pulled the Pioneers within six (63-57).
  • The Roadrunners quickly countered with a 7-2 spurt to bring the advantage back to double figures (72-61) with 4:53 remaining.
  • The Pioneers outscored Ramapo 11-3 to make it a three-point game (75-72) with 27 seconds left to play, but the Roadrunners were able to escape with the 77-72 road victory.

 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Graduate student MJ Moncrieffe went 8-for-14 (.571) for a 21-point game with eight rebounds, four steals, three steals and two blocks.
  • Senior Shawn Summers Jr. finished with 20 points on 9-of-18 (.500) shooting with eight points and two assists.
  • Senior Tyreek Montgomery and junior Andre Wells recorded eight points apiece.
