Vikings Earn 13th Straight on Senior Night

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Men's Basketball captured their 13th straight win in tonight's senior day matchup against the Stormy Petrels of Oglethorpe, defeating them 89-63 in a Valentine's Day special.

Six Vikings found double digits in tonight's win, as they shared the love with 16 total assists.

After Blake Campbell's three to start the game, there would be no chance for Oglethorpe as the Vikings held strong for 40 minutes.

All four Viking seniors saw points within the first four minutes of the game, Campbell, then Jordan KruegerBryce Clark, and Chase Ellis finished it off with a three to push the lead to eight at 12-4. When the Vikings reached a ten-point advantage close to the 10-minute mark the Petrels went on a run of their own and brought the game back within a possession with 7 minutes in the first half (26-23).

Campbell and Riley Costas combined for the next 11 Berry points to cancel out what Oglethorpe thought they had going right. Back-to-back threes from seniors Campbell and Krueger brought the game to a margin of 14 in the favor of the Vikings.

The team built a 19-point advantage before halftime at 49-30.

In the second half, the lead just continued to grow reaching 28-points after a Chase Ellis layup with still 13 minutes left to play. Ellis hit a nasty pair of triples before he and his seniors left the court together for their final regular season home game with 4:38 left in the game, Vikings up 24 (84-60).

The Vikings bench brought high energy and continued to hold off Oglethorpe as they clinched another home win and their 13th straight, seeking revenge on the only team that had defeated them in conference play.

Your regular season SAA Champions are set to host the first round of the conference tournament on Sunday, February 18th at 3:00 PM ET against Hendrix College. Stay up to date with information regarding the tournament at berryvikings.com.
