Campbell Controls Sewanee in Overtime Win

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Men's Basketball wins an overtime thriller against rival Sewanee in today's matchup, 93-86.

The last time these two teams saw each other in The Cage it ended in heartbreak for the Vikings, but this time they claimed a sweet victory of revenge.

After going down 2-0 to start the game, that is all Blake Campbell needed to fuel his way to a new career high 40-points.

The Tigers quickly took the lead to eight at 11-3, but two baskets from Campbell with Braxton Benham chipping in a free throw cut it back to three and Chase Ellis cut it to one with made foul shots (11-10).

Sponsored by Campbell's five to nothing run that included a three and a huge dunk, claimed the Vikings lead at the 13-minute mark (15-13).

Things were dicey around the next eight minutes with four ties, but Berry was able to hold on to the short lead until under five (28-26).

Sewanee controlled the remainder of the first half and sent the game to halftime up two, 37-35.

In the second half, the Tigers held the lead for 90% of the time, but this did not phase the Vikings.

Berry held on and answered to everything Sewanee threw at them.

In the final seven minutes of regulation Campbell single handedly went on a rampage and scored the last 18 Viking points, including the tying three to send the game to overtime with 25-seconds to go. The 18-points were ignited by three triples to surge this manic frenzy.

Campbell continued in overtime to push his scoring to 22 consecutive for the Vikings, which gained the lead that was never again gave up continuing their winning streak, now at 12.

Men's Basketball finalizes the regular season on Wednesday against Oglethorpe for senior night, tip-off at 8:00 PM ET.
