Men’s Basketball Remains Undefeated at Home, Bests Randolph

The Guilford College men's basketball team took on Randolph in a mid-week conference matchup. Business went as usual for the Quakers, dispatching the WildCats in a comfortable 21-point victory, 68-47.

The first period started slow for both squads; there were only 19 combined points scored through the first six-plus minutes of play. Guilford (14-1, 5-1) led by one at this point, 10-9, the closest that Randolph (7-8, 1-5) would be for the rest of the contest.

Over the next 10 minutes, the Quakers were locked in. A 24-7 run, including five made threes, pushed the home team's lead to 17. The WildCats were limited to just a pair of field goals, completely foiled by Guilford's defense. The Proctor brothers led the charge, Luke with eight in this stretch, and Gabe with six.

By halftime, the Quakers led by 15 (37-22). GC was hot from beyond the arc, making seven of 17 attempted threes (41.2%).

Guilford maintained their offensive intensity throughout the second period, distributing the ball among multiple scorers, en route to the double-digit victory, and its fifth straight win. Four Quakers hit double-digit scoring figures, led by 15 from Julius Burch. Burch recorded his second straight double-double, with 10 rebounds. Tyler Dearman continued his fine shooting season from beyond the arc, with three three-pointers, and 14 points overall. Caleb Farrish scored 11 of his own, and Gabe Proctor had 10 points.

As a team, GC led in the rebound margin (41-33), and in points off turnovers (14-8). The Quakers' free throw shooting was key in the victory, making 14-18 (77.8%).

Guilford remains home, facing #17 Randolph-Macon in a rematch of the 2023 ODAC championship on Saturday, January 13. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
