Corsairs Hand RIC First LEC Setback and Snap Five-Game Win Streak

Providence, R.I.--Senior forward Ousmane Kourouma (Woonsocket, R.I.) recorded his 10th double-double of the season with 18 rebounds and 16 points as the Rhode Island College men's basketball team fell vs. UMass Dartmouth, 73-82, in Little East action played at The Murray Center on Thursday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The entire contest was a tight-knit affair, with neither team holding a lead of double digits until the final minute of regulation.
 
• A pair of dunks by UMass Dartmouth sophomore center Ryan Flauto (Whitinsville, Mass) capped off a 7-2 run for the Corsairs in the middle stages of the first half.
 
• RIC would respond in kind with an 11-0 run to take a 24-19 lead, ending with a three-pointer from junior guard Deyshawn Tengbeh (East Providence, R.I.), with just over five minutes left to go in the opening stanza.
 
• UMass Dartmouth led by one, 37-36, at halftime.
 
• The Corsairs started the second half by knocking down a quartet of three-point shots within the first four minutes to build a 49-42 lead.
 
• A layup by sophomore guard Isaiah Dahl (Cornelius, Ore.) would give the hosts one of their few leads in the game, 55-54, with 10:40 remaining in the game.
 
• UMass Dartmouth would pull away late, going on a 13-3 run in the final five minutes to go up by nine, 75-64. Free throws would finish off the game, as the Corsairs handed the Anchormen their first conference setback and snap a modest five-game win streak.

• Tengbeh also registered a double-double with 15 points and 10 boards. Senior guard KJ Uga (Hyde Park, Mass.) finished with 12 points and six boards. Dahl contributed 16 points.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will continue Little East action at home vs. Plymouth State on Saturday, Jan. 6 (3 p.m.).
