No. 6 Hampden-Sydney Earns Home Win Past No. 25 Swarthmore (PA) 67-46

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Senior team captain Adam Brazil (Mooresville, NC) equaled his career-high with a game-high 23 points, and senior Davidson Hubbard (Charlotte, NC) added 13 points and seven rebounds, to lead nationally-ranked No. 6 Hampden-Sydney College to a 67-46 non-conference home win past nationally-ranked No. 25 Swarthmore (PA) College on Thursday night in S. Douglas Fleet Gymnasium at Kirby Field House. The Tigers (8-1) led 31-16 at halftime and used a 12-4 run midway through the second half to thwart a comeback attempt by the visiting Garnet (7-3), who were led by Vinny DeAngelo with 17 points.

"Big shout-out to our new football coach, Vince Luvara and his wife Stacey, who were introduced at the game tonight," said fifth-year head coach Caleb Kimbrough. "Excited for this new era of Tiger football. Also, great win against a very well-coached team tonight. We play defense like that and we will beat a lot of teams. We knew they would go on a run in the second half at some point and I thought our guys took some steps in how we responded."

In a battle of Top 25 teams, H-SC jumped out to an early 9-2 advantage at 15:55 behind five quick points by Hubbard, including a three-point field goal, and baskets from senior team captain Josiah Hardy (Ashburn) and Brazil. The Garnet & Grey secured the outcome with the final six points of the contest scored by Hubbard on an offensive rebound basket, a steal and two-handed slam dunk from Clements and a jumper by Brazil.
