OSWEGO, NY – Sixth-ranked Oswego handed the Nazareth men's basketball team a 79-68 defeat on Tuesday night in non-conference action. Nazareth kept the game close throughout but was never able to grab a lead in the game.


The Golden Flyers fall to 2-3 on the year with the loss, while Oswego remains perfect at 4-0.

 

Nazareth got off to a slow start, trailing 17-5 seven minutes into the game. 12 points matched the Lakers largest lead of the game.

 

Over the next 9:30, Nazareth outscored the opponent 17-6 to bring the score to 26-22 with just over three minutes to play.

 

Oswego upped its lead to double digits, 38-28, at the half.

 

The closest Nazareth would come in the second half was four points, including at the 11:38 mark when Logan Blankenberg drilled a 3-pointer for a 51-47 game. He led the Golden Flyers with 19 points on 7-for-14 from the floor. He also had nine rebounds.


The lead was back up to 12 points with just over six on the clock, a lead the Golden Flyers were not able to overcome.

 

Jaylen Savage chipped in 15 points and a career-high 12 rebounds. Jordan Haggard was good for 13 points and nine boards.

 

Nazareth shot just over 40 percent for the game at 27-for-67.

 

The Golden Flyers will next be in action on December 1, traveling to Sage to open up Empire 8 play.
