Tornados Topped by Bob Jones

GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Brevard College men's basketball team (0-2) fell to host Bob Jones University (1-2) 91-72 on Tuesday evening in Greenville, South Carolina.

The Tornados were led by graduate student Jeremy Posner who came off the bench to score 20 points after shooting 3-of-4 from beyond the arc and a perfect 7-of-7 from the free throw line.  The scoring output was a career-high in a Brevard uniform for Posner who delivered the team-high performance in just 19 minutes of action.

Sophomore Jadon Carnes also scored in double figures with a 15-point performance on a highly efficient 7-of-10 shooting night that included a made 3-pointer.  Graduate guard Quincy Carter recorded team-highs with five assists and three steals to go along with eight points.

Junior Kavan Horton pulled down five rebounds to lead the Tornados on the glass.  Freshman Charlie Hester registered eight points with two made 3-pointers as a follow up to an 11-point performance last week in his Tornado debut.

Bob Jones was led by Elijah Cupples with 26 points and 19 points from Devin Pope.  Hayes Brush of the Bruins was the game's leading rebounder with five boards.

The Bruins outshot BC 63% to 36% from the field.  Bob Jones shot 19-of-22 from the free throw line and made eight 3-pointers.

In the first six minutes of action, the two teams played a tight opening portion of the contest.  Horton and senior Carson Evans hit back-to-back 3-pointers to give BC a 14-10 advantage.

The Tornados and Bruins jockeyed for the lead throughout much of the remainder of the first half with several lead changes and ties including a 32-32 deadlock that came after a 3-pointer by Posner.

Bob Jones then recorded an 11-0 run that was ultimately snapped by a 3-pointer from Hester with two minutes remaining in the half.  The Bruins went on to take a 46-37 lead into the break.
