MBB: Bosse's big game lifts Panthers over VTSU Johnson

 

JOHNSON, Vt. The Plymouth State University men's basketball team defeated the Vermont State University (VTSU) Johnson Badgers in a non-conference game, 60-52, in Carter Gymnasium on Wednesday night.

A second half run put the Panthers out ahead in what was otherwise a back-and-forth contest. Senior Kyler Bosse (Manchester, N.H.) led all scorers with 26 points and grabbed six rebounds, while sophomore Torran Boswoth (Springfield, Mass.) added nine points of his own. Junior Elijah Swanson (Meredith, N.H.) was a perfect 4-of-4 from the floor, scoring eight points in the Panthers' victory.

Bosse recorded his 18th 20-point game of his career on his quest to reach the 1,000-career points threshold this season.

Plymouth State starts the season 1-0, while the Badgers fall to 0-1.

  • The Badgers jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the opening minute of play.

  • VTSU Johnson regained the lead 21-20 with 4:42 to play before halftime.
  • The Panthers ended the first half on a 9-0 run to take a 36-26 advantage into the locker room.
  • The Badgers tied the game at 44-44 with 8:31 remaining in the second half.
  • Plymouth State went back up by ten (58-48) with just under four minutes to play.
  • VTSU Johnson was unable to get any closer than eight points as the Panthers closed out the first win of the season.
