ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball fell to the No. 5 nationally ranked University of Mount Union in an Ohio Athletic Conference contest by a final score of 102-69 inside the Timken Gymnasium inside the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.
BW Leaders (9-11, 5-8 OAC)
- Senior forward Jackson Simmons (Wadsworth) posted his fourth double-double of the season with 17 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
- Senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC guard Anthony Mazzeo (Canton/Massillon Jackson) scored a team-high 21 points and added six boards.
Mount Union Leaders (18-2, 11-2 OAC)
- Junior All-OAC forward Christian Parker scored a game-high 24 points to go along with 10 rebounds for a double-double.
- Freshman guard Dante Collier added 17 points off the bench.
First Half (50-34 Mount Union)
- Mount Union got on the board first with a three from senior guard Chris Painter Jr.
- Mazzeo came out red hot as he scored eight of the first 10 for the Yellow Jackets
- Simmons caught a pass from Mazzeo in the paint and hammered it home to force a Purple Raiders timeout as BW led 14-9.
- Out of the timeout, Mount Union put together a 19-1 run to take a 28-15 lead.
- The rest of the half featured the two squads trading buckets as the Purple Raiders led 50-34 at the break.
- Simmons nearly posted a double-double in the first as he had a team leading 13 points and nine boards along with two assists.
- Mazzeo added 13 points, three rebounds and two assists in the half.
- Senior All-OAC forward Christian Parker led all scorers with 14 points and he added three steals.
Second Half (102-69 Mount Union)
- The Yellow Jackets opened the half on 1 14-8 run to cut the Mount Union lead to 58-48.
- A 9-0 Purple Raiders extended their lead to 67-53 with 12:11 left in the game.
- Mount Union continued to knock down shots as they extended their lead.
BW returns to the court on Saturday, February 4 when it travels to Otterbein University for the first game of an OAC men's and women's doubleheader inside the Rike Center at 2:00.
