BETHANY, W.Va. -- Allegheny College men's basketball went on the road to Bethany College's Hummel Field House and secured an 81-61 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) victory over the Bison on Wednesday evening.

The Gators (11-6, 9-3 PAC) wasted little time before taking a commanding lead over the Bison (1-16, 1-11 PAC) on their home court. Even at 2-all inside the first minute of play, Allegheny went on a 14-0 run over the next four minutes to take a 14-point advantage, 16-2. The early scoring spree was fueled by lights-out shooting beyond the 3-point arc, as four of Allegheny's five starters converted from distance.

The Gators' defense also ended the first half with a strong effort. Allegheny surrendered only four points in the last five minutes and did not allow a point for the last 1:57, which allowed the visitors to more than double-up the Bison, 51-25, at the break.

The closest Bethany came to the Gator lead in the second half was 15 points, 70-55, with just over six minutes remaining. Once again, the Allegheny defense hunkered down and allowed only six more points until the final buzzer to conclude the lopsided win.
