MEADVILLE, Pa. -- In front of a large crowd of students on Meadville Area Middle School Day, the Allegheny College men's basketball team ended the 2022 portion of the season with a convincing 107-79 victory over Penn State Shenango Wednesday afternoon at the James H. Mullen, Jr. Arena.

The Gators (7-5) eclipsed the 100-point plateau for the first time since defeating Hiram College, 103-68, last December. Allegheny's 107 points are also the most scored by the team in a single game since pouring in 128 against Westminster College during the 2004-05 campaign.

As a team, the Gators shot 52.1% overall (37-of-71), 38.5% (15-of-39) from 3-point range, and 78.3% (18-of-23) from the foul line. The Lions (4-13) started poorly with a 25.5 field-goal percentage (12-of-47) in the first half, which helped Allegheny gain a 59-32 lead at the break. Even though that cushion ballooned to as many as 46 points after the intermission, Allegheny only outscored Penn State Shenango by one point in the second half.

Nine of the 11 Gators who entered Wednesday's matchup logged points, led by Andre Wilder (Beaver Falls, Pa./Lincoln Park) and Isaiah Portis (Medina, Ohio/Norwayne) with 21 apiece. Ryan Lang (Sarver, Pa./Knoch), who matched Portis with a team-high four 3-pointers, collected 20 points.
