Men’s Basketball Falls to Utica 79-69

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Men's Basketball team lost at home on Saturday to Utica University 79-69 in an Empire 8 Conference game.

Keuka College (5-4, 1-3 Empire 8) was led by Devin Milton (Opelousas, La. / Beau Chene) with 21 points. Daniel Obunse (Queens, N.Y. / Flushing) and Jaden Keasey (Newport News, Va. / Menchville) were both in double figures scoring 12 and 10, respectively.

The Pioneers took an early 7-0 lead over the Wolves. Mason VanDeMortel (Newark, N.Y. / Newark) got the Wolves on the board with a layup. Keuka College battled back to make it 14-10 as Keion Brooks (Titusville, Fla. / Home-Schooled) found Daniel Obunse open under the basket on an inbounds play. Later, a Will Tehan (Victor, N.Y. / Victor) three cut the margin to three, 18-15, but the Pioneers responded with 10 straight. Jaden Keasey hit a three for the Wolves to end the run. The Wolves cut the lead down to 10 multiple times in the first but were unable to get any closer in the final minutes. Utica led Keuka 41-29 at the half.

The Wolves quickly cut into the lead with baskets by Jaden Keasey and Lorenzo Bicknese (Somers, N.Y. / Somers) to start the second half. The Pioneers answered and regained the double-digit lead. Utica pushed their lead out to 17, 56-39, with 12 minutes left to play. The Wolves battled, but the Pioneers had an answer for every Keuka College basket. Keuka shrunk the lead to nine multiple times in the closing minutes but was unable to get in any closer. Utica University continued onto the 79-69 victory.
