William Paterson Men's Basketball Drops Conference Tilt to Montclair State

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson men's basketball team (4-4, 1-3 NJAC) dropped a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game to Montclair State (7-0, 3-0 NJAC), 71-61, on Dec. 7.  

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • A 3-pointer by junior Caesar Silvestro with 8:47 remaining in the game put the Pioneers in front by two (56-54). However, the Red Hawks responded with an 18-5 run that lasted the remainder of the contest to grab the conference victory.  

 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Junior Shawn Summers Jr. shot 6-of-9 (.667) from the floor for a team-best 15 points and added six rebounds and a career-high four steals.
  • Sophomore Neftali Valentin put up 12 in the scoring column.
  • Silvestro scored a season-high 11 points to pair with a season-best five rebounds.
  • Junior Tyreek Montgomery reeled in a career-high 10 boards.
