WOOSTER, Ohio - November 30, 2022 - Hiram was neck-and-neck for most of Wednesday's NCAC opener, but a late outburst by Wooster proved to be too much in an 87-73 loss at Timken Gymnasium.

The Terriers went on a 7-0 run early in the second half to cut the margin to 3 points, with Kevin Beans capping off the effort on a basket in the paint. Hiram eventually closed the gap to 53-51 on a layup from Michael Ewart with 14:06 remaining.

Wooster answered with a 13-0 run of its own to take a 66-51 lead, which ended up being the difference in another hard-fought effort from Hiram.

Beans finished with 17 points, his 2nd-most in any game this season (18 points at Baldwin Wallace). The senior's 3 three-pointers also tied a season-high.

Dushawn Hill had 17 points and Doug Sartain chipped in 13 points for a bench unit that outscored its opposition, 34-31. Hill has now led the team in scoring (shared or outright) in consecutive games.

Hiram stayed within 10-or-fewer points for the entirety of the first half, which included a 21-17 lead with 10:56 to play. Hill was all over the stat sheet over the first 20 minutes, totaling 10 points, 2 assists and 1 steal.

Ivan Yang scored all 7 of his points in the second half to give the Terriers a late boost. The sophomore has now made multiple field goals in 5 straight games.

Wooster's hot shooting was particularly evident from beyond the arc; the team shot 5-14 (36%) on 3-pt FG in the first half and 7-15 (47%) in the second. Jamir Billings scored a game-high 20 points.

Hiram will return to Price Gymnasium and look to keep its perfect home record intact on Saturday against Wittenberg at 4 p.m. (tip-off follows the women's game at 2 p.m.).
