BEAVER FALLS, Pennsylvania - The Hiram men's basketball team opened the season with a record-setting 18 three-pointers, but the high-powered offense couldn't hold on in a 113-108 loss to Geneva College on Wednesday.

Hiram's 18 three-pointers set a new program record; the Terriers had two games with 17 three-pointers prior to Wednesday's season opener (most recently vs Ramapo in 2012).

The 108-point performance was the team's most points in a game since January 9, 2008, when the Terriers scored 113 points against the same Geneva College program.

Neither team led by more than 5 points for the last 7:43 of the game, but the Golden Tornadoes closed the second half with 6 unanswered points to pull away.

Junior forward Levi MacAdam posted a team-high 36 points on 14-19 shooting from the field. His 8 three-pointers are tied for the 2nd-most in a game in program history, trailing only Matt Kersten in 2003 (9 three-pointers at Ohio Wesleyan).

Senior guard Brodgie Gordon – an All-NCAC Honorable Mention just one season ago – recorded a triple-double, including 27 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists. He scored or assisted on 59 of the team's 108 points (55%).

Hiram took a 9-point lead late in the first half, when MacAdam scored a layup to give his team a 48-39 advantage with 5:02 to play. MacAdam scored 14 points in less than 3 minutes of game time, with the layup capping off the outburst.

MacAdam's 19 points in the first half helped the Terriers to a 55-50 lead heading into the intermission.

It was more of the same back-and-forth action in the second half, as neither team held a double-digit lead. Geneva shot 67% from the field and Lyle Tipton scored 22 of his 39 points in the second half alone.

The Terriers continue non-conference play on Saturday at Baldwin Wallace (6 p.m. start time).
