Keuka College Downed at Hobart 94-63

GENEVA, N.Y. — The Keuka College Men's Basketball team lost on the road at Hobart College 94-63 on Tuesday night.

Keuka College (2-1) was led by Mason VanDeMortel (Newark, N.Y. / Newark) with 14 points and five rebounds. Alijah Ellis (Portsmouth, Va. / Indian River / Fork Union Military Academy) was also in double figures with 13 points.

The Statesmen took an early lead over the Wolves, but a Lorenzo Bicknese (Somers, N.Y. / Somers) layup cut it to three at 9-6. Keuka College battled to keep the margin in single digits for the opening nine minutes, but Hobart extended their lead with eight unanswered points to 26-12. A three by Kobe Schriver (Hooper, Utah / Roy) ended the run. The Wolves would cut the lead down to 12 multiple times but were unable to get it back to single digits. Will Tehan (Victor, N.Y. / Victor) hit a jumper at the horn, but the Wolves trailed 46-31 at the half.

After Hobart pushed their lead to 12 five minutes into the second half, Alijah Ellis converted a three-point-play and Will Tehan hit a three-pointer to cut it back to 15, 60-45. Keuka would later get the margin down to 14 points, but that would be as close as the Wolves would get it. Hobart used small stretches to extend their lead and defeated the Wolves 94-63 on Tuesday night.

  • The Wolves have now lost five straight to the Statesmen. Keuka College is 6-11 all-time against Hobart College
  • Keuka College committed a season-low nine turnovers
  • Hobart was +30 in rebounding against the Wolves including a 19-3 edge in offensive rebounds. That led to a 21-2 difference in favor of the Statesmen for second-chance points
  • Alijah Ellis continues to get to the line for the Wolves. He has gone 14-17 from the free-throw line over the past two games including going 7-9 against Hobart
