No. 21 Garnet Take Care of Business Against Haverford

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - No. 21 Swarthmore College Men's Basketball took care of business against Haverford College on Wednesday evening as they welcomed fans back to Tarble Pavilion. The Garnet (20-4, 14-3 CC) defeated the Fords (13-11, 9-8 CC) with a score of 87-66.

Michael Caprise and Vinny DeAngelo led the way for the Garnet with 15 points. George Visconti (13) and Conor Harkins (11) each contributed with double-digits in points scored. Swarthmore netted points on fast break attempts and 40-points in the paint.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The opening six minutes saw the Garnet and Fords exchange baskets, as DeAngelo opened the game with a layup. DeAngelo and Caprise accounted for six of the first nine points for Swarthmore. 

- With a two-point lead in the opening half, Harkins was fouled on attempted three-pointer. The senior, who is the all-time leader in three-pointers, knocked down all the three free throws to begin a stretch where the Garnet would extend its lead to double-digits. 

- At the 15:56 mark of the second, Justin Tucker stole the ball from Nicholas Stewart. On a fast break play, Tucker received the ball from Matt Mulvey and the senior knocked down layup to extend the Garnet lead to 20-points. Tucker grabbed six rebounds, two steals and a block in 11 minutes off the bench. 

- The Garnet brought its lead to a game-high 30 points when TJ Chapman had a beautiful layup with 2:29 left. Swarthmore went on to win by 21 points.

UP NEXT
The Garnet will close out the regular season with a 3:00 p.m game on Saturday as they host Gettysburg College. Prior to the game, the men's basketball program will honor the six seniors of the class of 2022.
