WORCESTER -- The No. 22 WPI men's basketball team continued its winning ways picking up its 20th victory of the season thanks to a pair of double doubles from John Adams (Douglas, MA) and Colin McNamara (Arlington, MA) with an 89-60 victory over Coast Guard on Saturday afternoon.

Adams finished the game with a 22-point, 12 rebound and seven assist outing while McNamara added 18 points, 11 rebounds and three assists.

The Engineers (20-2, 11-1 NEWMAC) have now posted 20-win seasons in back-to-back years and for the 12th time since 2006-07.

Another wire-to-wire victory for the Engineers, Aidan Callahan (Rowley, MA) started things off with a layup on the opening possession and WPI never looked back ultimately getting out to a 14-4 start to the game after four-straight points from Logan O'Donnell (Fishkill, NY). After taking a 32-10 advantage, Coast Guard went out on an 11-1 run to get within 12, but WPI headed into halftime with a 39-24 advantage.

The Engineers maintained and then extended their lead in the second half following an 8-0 run started by an Austen Zhou (Acton, MA) trey and capped off by an Adams and-one resulting in a 59-34 lead. Some back and forth play kept the Bears at bay and they were able to get within the 30-point threshold thanks to a Declan Rooney (Seattle, WA) layup in the final seconds of action.

Coast Guard falls to 5-16 overall and 2-10 in conference play following the loss. They were paced by a 16 point effort from Rooney off the bench. Rooney added four rebounds.  Jarrod Jackson (Carrollton, GA) added 11 points and Garrett Drummond (Frederick, MD) chipped in with 10.

The Engineers out-shot the Bears posting a 41.3% shooting percentage on the day while holding Coast Guard to a 30.4% clip. The team pulled down 51 rebounds to Coast Guard's 40 while also dishing out 21 assists on 33 made baskets. Also key in the victory was WPI's 20 points off of Coast Guard's 18 turnovers while relenting no points off turnovers on the day.

The Engineers are back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 16 on Senior Night when the team plays host to Wheaton at 7pm. WPI will honor its senior class prior to the game. Coast Guard is also back in action on Wednesday when they play host to Babson at 7pm.
