SWARTHMORE, Pa. - No. 15 Swarthmore College Men's Basketball knocked off No. 12 Johns Hopkins University, 78-68, in a battle of Centennial Conference heavyweights on Saturday evening at Tarble Pavilion. The Garnet (16-3, 10-2 CC) swept the season series over the Blue Jays (14-3, 10-2).

Off the bench, Vinny DeAngelo led all Garnet scorers with 14, while Michael Caprise added 13 points and eight boards. Aidan Godfrey added a dozen points and matched a season-high ten rebounds as the forward collected his second double-double of the season. George Visconti contributed with 11 points, while Ryan Ingram and Matt Mulvey each tallied nine points

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After winning the opening, Caprise scored the first bucket of the game. Carson James gave Hopkins, 3-2, its first lead of the game as he connected on a three-point play. The first half saw the Garnet and Blue Jays exchange buckets until George Corzine gave the host a nine point lead with a two-point bucket with just over seven minutes remaining the half. 

- The Garnet extended its lead to 14 by going on a 10-0 with five minutes remaining in the half. During that stretch, Godfrey hit clutch free throws as Conor Harkins knocked down a fast break three-pointer. DeAngelo knocked down a three-pointer with seconds to spare in the half to give Swarthmore 41-28 lead at the half-time break.

- Hopkins opened the second half by scoring 13 of the first 16 points to cut the Swarthmore lead to three. The Garnet answered the run as DeAngelo hit a back-to-back fast break layups with 13:27 remaining. 

- Garnet held Hopkins to 39.7 % from the field and 23.1 % from distance. In the game, Swarthmore's defense scored 12 points off of 14 Blue Jays turnovers. The Garnet held the second best scoring offense in the Centennial to below 70 points for only the third time this season. In almost identical scores of their last meeting on January 11th, the then No. 16 Garnet knocked off No. 12 Johns Hopkins, 78-69. Swarthmore has won the last five regular season meetings between the two programs.
