Baruch Now 6-0 in CUNYAC, Defeat CCNY

The Baruch College Bearcats won for the ninth time in their last 10 games with an 81-73 CUNYAC home win against the Beavers of CCNY on Tuesday night in the ARC Arena.

The turning point of the game took place late in the first half.

The Bearcats led early 27-19, but the visiting Beavers went on an 11-2 run for their only lead of the evening at 30-29 with 4:33 left before the half.

The Bearcats called a timeout and quickly responded by scoring 12 of the next 14 points to lead 41-32 at the half.

The visiting Beavers kept battling during the second half and managed to get as close as 64-59 with five minutes remaining. The Bearcats responded back again with layups by Michael Richards and a three-point play by Emil Purisic to increase the score to 69-59.

The Beavers again managed again to get to within five points (78-73) with 20 seconds left, but a free throw by Adnan Bajrami and two free throws by Sean Donnellan sealed the home win.

Both teams were similar in various statistical categories, but the key difference was the baskets the Bearcats made when it was needed the most.

Richards (9-for-12 fg) scored 19 points and notched four steals, while Purisic had 15 points. Bajrami finished with 14 and narrowly missed a double-double with nine rebounds.

Jehmehl Fair rounded out the double-figure scorers with 12 points and five rebounds.

Amir Assani led the visitors  with 19 points (8-for-10 fg) and seven rebounds.

The two teams will play again tomorrow night in a rescheduled contest at 7:00 p.m. at CCNY's Nat Holman Gymnasium.
