Radnor, Pa. - (1/24/2022) - Gwynedd Mercy University (9-6, 1-2) visited Cabrini University (6-10, 2-2) for this evening's Atlantic East Conference (AEC) contest. There, the first three minutes after halftime served as the difference in the final score with senior guard Ty Jones (Harlem, N.Y.) carrying the heart of the Griffins to an eight-point, 40-32 (18:23), edge before graduate forward Donaven Spencer (Timber Creek, N.J.) made it nine points, 41-32 (16:55), with the second of two free throws. Later, another Gwynedd Mercy University push - this one coming in the paint from Spencer and graduate forward Justin Collins (Springfield, Pa.) - widened the gap to largest margin, 51-36 (12:28), and distancing the Cavaliers beyond the point of recovery in an eventual 65-61 conclusion.

The Griffins shot 54.3% (25-of-46) from the field and held a slight rebounding advantage, 33-30, to offset a 21-15 turnover deficit and a dismal 36.4% (8-of-22) showing from the free throw line. Jones hit five three-point baskets (5-of-11, .455) en route to a game-high 19 points. He fell a pair of rebounds shy of his third straight double-double as he grabbed eight rebounds on top of an assist and three steals. Spencer was also close to a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds. He additionally contributed four assists and a steal to the Gwynedd Mercy University victory. Sophomore guard Manny Clark (Pottsgrove, Pa.) was the third Griffin in double figures with 13 points in excess of his four rebounds, three assists, and three steals.

Gwynedd Mercy University continues their AEC schedule on Wednesday, January 24, when they visit Marywood University for an 8:00 p.m. tip-off.
