Lexington, Va. -- For the second time this season, University of Lynchburg junior Cameron Savage set a career high in points. The guard from Reston, Va. dropped 30 in Lynchburg's 82-69 win over Washington and Lee to open conference play Wednesday night.

Savage is Lynchburg's first 30-point scorer since Tharon Suggs hung 32 on Hampden-Sydney on Feb. 16, 2021.

Isräel Lockamy and Suggs knocked down the first two shots for the Hornets, both sinking 3-pointers.

Halfway through the first, Savage scored 11 points in 3:55, giving the Hornets their first double-digit lead, 27-21.

With 2:31 left in the first half, Suggs put Lynchburg up 41-30 with a 3-pointer. Suggs surpassed the 1,300-point milestone in his collegiate career with the shot. He ended the game with 15 points and is averaging the second-most points on the team at 14.0.

Savage knocked down a pair of free throws with one minute remaining and went into halftime with 15 points as the Hornets led 45-38.

Savage stayed hot in the second half, knocking down Lynchburg's first two shots out of the break.

The Generals cut the deficit to 57-55 with 12:27 play. However, Savage kick-started an 11-0 run with a 3-pointer on the next possession. Carrington Young scored six points in a row during the run and Suggs put the finishing touches on it with a jumper, putting Lynchburg up by 13.

As time wound down, Lockamy scored Lynchburg's final five points, reaching 15 on the day.

The Hornets topped W&L 82-69; their largest margin of victory over the Generals since beating them by 18 on Nov. 26, 2016.

T.C. Thacker joined Savage, Lockamy, and Suggs in double-digits with 10 points. He also grabbed 12 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season and 23rd of his career.

Lynchburg continued to take care of the ball, only committing six turnovers while grabbing 11 steals. Young and Suggs both nabbed three steals while Lockamy added two.

The Hornets (4-1, 1-0 ODAC) host Bridgewater on Dec. 4 at 2 p.m.
