Division I Binghamton Rolls By Men’s Basketball in Exhibition

VESTAL, NY – The Hartwick men's basketball team lost an exhibition game to Division I SUNY Binghamton on Sunday, as the Bearcats defeated the Hawks, 110-41, in their Events Center. The game does not count towards 'Wick's record, as they remain 0-5, while Binghamton is now 2-3 on the season.

The Bearcats jumped out to a 6-0 lead early, although the Hawks would keep it close for the first six-plus minutes of the game. Anthony Girard (Chestertown, NY/North Warren Central) had eight points in the early going, including a three-pointer that made it 16-14 Bearcats with 6:20 gone by. Binghamton took control from there, extending their lead to 31-15 by the midway point of the first half and 59-29 at the break.

The second half saw the Division I side's lead grow substantially, as they outscored 'Wick 51-12 en route to the 69-point victory.

Girard was the most impressive Hawk on the day, scoring 15 points in 19 minutes on 6-of-11 from the field and 3-of-6 from deep. Nick Eiler (Highland Mills, NY/Saddle River Day) had six points and three rebounds.

Binghamton shot very well all day, at 65.2% from the field and 47.8% from three. The Hawks were at 36.2% overall and 21.1% from deep. The Bearcats also dominated the rebounding battle, at 43-18, and turned the ball over eight times to 'Wick's 22.

Hartwick is right back to it tomorrow night at home, as they host Mount Saint Mary at 7 p.m. in Lambros Arena.
