NEW PALTZ, N.Y. - The Bard College men's basketball team defeated Mount St. Mary College, 90-80, on the first day of the Hudson Valley Classic on Friday.
Bard has begun the season with three consecutive wins for the first time in the history of the program. The Raptors will go for four on Day 2 of the tournament when they take on New Paltz at Mount St. Mary on Saturday afternoon.
"Another great effort from the team tonight," Bard coach Michael Lenahan said. "We fought through adversity with several players in foul trouble, but once again we stuck together as a team and came out on top."
Bard got points from 10 different players, got three-pointers made by eight different players, and 54 points off the bench. Greg Farrow led Bard with 15 points in 15 minutes, Elliot Harris added 13 points, while Mike Parme and Henry Meyers added 11 points apiece. The 17 three-pointers made broke the program record for threes in a game of 16 that this team set a couple of weeks ago in Vermont.
"Heston Tucker and Mike Parme gave us huge minutes off the bench," Lenahan said. "We are looking forward to the challenge of playing New Paltz."
Saturday's game in Newburgh starts at 4.
